Hotels in Argentina: Where to Stay in Every City
Argentina's accommodation landscape ranges considerably by region. Buenos Aires has a mature hotel market — boutique options in Palermo and Recoleta, business hotels in Microcentro, and a well-established hostel scene in San Telmo and Palermo. Mendoza adds wine country lodges set among Malbec vineyards with the Andes as backdrop. Patagonia operates differently: remote estancias, trekking refugios, and a handful of well-placed lodges serve the glaciers and trekking circuits.
Value for money varies sharply with Argentina's economic conditions. Mid-range hotels in Buenos Aires are strong value when paying in USD cash or at the parallel exchange rate — the same room can cost two to three times more when booked internationally via credit card. We have written detailed where-to-stay guides for all cities covered on this site.

Types of Accommodation
Boutique Hotels & Design Hotels
Buenos Aires has a strong boutique hotel scene, particularly in Palermo and San Telmo. Converted mansions and art-filled townhouses offer a more characterful stay than the international chains. Palermo Soho and Palermo Hollywood are the preferred neighbourhoods for independent travellers.
Wine Lodges & Estancias
Mendoza has a collection of lodges set directly in the vineyards — some of South America's most atmospheric accommodation. Patagonian estancias (working ranches) offer horseback riding, asado dinners, and access to landscapes not reachable otherwise. Rates reflect the remoteness and exclusivity.
Budget Hostels
Argentina has a well-developed hostel network. Buenos Aires (Palermo, San Telmo, Microcentro) has the highest concentration, with high-quality dorm beds running ARS 8,000–20,000 ($8–20) per night depending on the exchange rate. Bariloche, Mendoza, and El Calafate all have decent budget options.
Trekking Lodges & Refugios
In Patagonia, mountain refugios (staffed huts) serve the main trekking circuits. For Los Glaciares National Park and around Fitz Roy, basic refugios and campsites are the primary options. Book well in advance for the November–March peak season. Private lodges around Bariloche offer more comfort.
