Argentina’s low-cost carrier Flybondi has resumed limited flight operations following a complete grounding that lasted approximately two weeks in early July 2026. The airline halted all services after state fuel supplier YPF suspended deliveries over unpaid debts, leaving thousands of passengers stranded at airports across Argentina.

What Happened

Flybondi entered a period of commercial and financial crisis that culminated in a full operational shutdown. New majority owners, the firm COC Global Enterprise, stepped in to replace management during the grounding. The incoming leadership has publicly stated that the previous management committed financial irregularities and alleged fraud, though no legal findings have been issued at the time of writing.

YPF eventually resumed fuel supply after partial payment arrangements were made, allowing a skeleton operation to restart.

Current State of Operations

As of the week of 21 July, Flybondi is operating between 2 and 4 of its 13 aircraft, with a severely reduced schedule compared to normal. Argentina’s pilot union has described current conditions as “extremely precarious” and flagged ongoing concerns about maintenance schedules and crew rostering under the reduced fleet.

Routes to Brazil - including Florianópolis, Salvador, and Maceió - have not yet been restored. Domestic Argentine routes are operating on a limited, day-by-day basis.
