Chilean low-cost carrier JetSMART has confirmed two new domestic routes from Buenos Aires Jorge Newbery Airport (Aeroparque) to Jujuy and Posadas, both scheduled to launch in the fourth quarter of 2026. The additions expand the airline’s presence in Argentina’s domestic market and introduce direct low-fare options to two northern destinations that have previously been served primarily by Aerolíneas Argentinas and Flybondi.

Buenos Aires to Jujuy

The Aeroparque–Jujuy route provides a direct link from the capital to San Salvador de Jujuy, the gateway city for one of Argentina’s most dramatic landscapes. The Quebrada de Humahuaca — a UNESCO World Heritage corridor of multicoloured valleys, pre-Columbian villages, and colonial churches — is accessible from Jujuy by road, as are Purmamarca, Tilcara, and Humahuaca town itself.

Until now, budget travellers heading to the Jujuy region faced either the long Aerolíneas Argentinas service or a connecting routing. JetSMART’s entry on the route creates direct price competition and is likely to stimulate visitor numbers to the northwest.

From Aeroparque, the flight time to Jujuy is approximately 2 hours. Our Jujuy destination guide covers where to base yourself, how to reach the Quebrada, and what to budget for the region.

Buenos Aires to Posadas

Posadas, the capital of Misiones province, is the main access point for two of Argentina’s standout attractions: the Iguazú Falls (a shared border site with Brazil, reached from the nearby Iguazú city) and the Jesuit ruins circuit, including San Ignacio Miní — among the best-preserved mission complexes in South America.

The Aeroparque–Posadas route adds a low-cost option for travellers who want to explore Misiones without the longer journey that currently makes this province feel more remote than it needs to be. Posadas is also a crossing point into Encarnación, Paraguay, for travellers combining both countries. See our Posadas guide for logistics on reaching the ruins and the river border.

What This Means for Argentina Travel

JetSMART’s expansion into these two routes reflects continued growth in Argentina’s domestic aviation market, which has seen capacity recover strongly since 2024. Aeroparque — the city-centre airport located just north of Palermo — remains the preferred departure point for domestic travel, and routes from Aeroparque command a premium over Ezeiza for the convenience.

Fares for the new routes have not been formally published at the time of writing, but JetSMART typically launches with introductory fares well below full-fare alternatives. Watching the airline’s website in the weeks following the official launch announcement is the most reliable way to access the lowest fares. You can also compare Argentina flights across all carriers to find the best available fare for your travel dates.

The new routes are a useful addition for anyone building an itinerary that combines Buenos Aires with the far north or the Misiones northeast.
