Aerolíneas Argentinas has added a second daily flight on its Buenos Aires Ezeiza to Madrid Barajas route, effective from early September 2026. The airline had operated a single daily service on this route since restoring its European network post-pandemic; the addition of a second daily departure makes it the only Latin American carrier to operate double-daily between Argentina and Spain.

Flight Details

The new frequency adds an additional departure in the European morning (roughly 08:00–10:00 local Madrid time), complementing the existing overnight eastbound service. The return westbound service from Madrid operates in the afternoon, arriving Buenos Aires the following morning.

Flight duration on the route is approximately 13 to 14 hours depending on routing and wind. Both services use Boeing 787 Dreamliners in a three-class configuration: business (Cóndor class), premium economy, and economy.

The new service effectively gives travellers a choice of travel window: overnight (the traditional configuration, popular for minimising lost daytime) or daytime outbound (better for those who sleep poorly on aircraft and prefer to arrive refreshed after a full night’s sleep in Madrid).

What This Means for Booking

The main practical effect of double-daily service is lower average fare pressure and greater flexibility for connection routing. Previously, missing the single daily departure meant a 24-hour gap. With two flights, a missed or cancelled service can usually be rebooked onto the same-day alternative with minimal impact.

For travellers planning trips from Europe to Argentina, this also means slightly more availability on advance fares — a single daily service on a long-haul route sells out its forward inventory faster, particularly in business class during peak Argentine summer (November–February).

Planning Your Arrival

International flights arrive at Buenos Aires Ministro Pistarini International Airport (EZE), located in Ezeiza, around 22 kilometres from the city centre. Our guide to Buenos Aires covers the transfer options in detail, including the Tienda León shuttle service and taxi companies that offer fixed-rate airport transfers.

Context: Competition on the Route

Iberia operates a competing service on the same route, and Air Europa flies Madrid–Buenos Aires with an intermediate stop in Montevideo. The Aerolíneas Argentinas double-daily competes directly with Iberia’s non-stop service and gives passengers a wider window of departure choices.

The route is one of the most commercially significant for the Argentine airline, which counts the Spanish-Argentine diaspora and European adventure travellers as two of its largest customer segments.
