British Airways has announced it will resume daily nonstop flights between London Heathrow and Buenos Aires Ezeiza from 28 March 2027, ending a gap of more than three years on the route. The last direct service between the two capitals operated in October 2023.
Route Details
The new service operates as BA245 outbound and BA244 on return, both on a Boeing 777. BA245 departs London Heathrow, lands at Buenos Aires Ezeiza, then continues to Santiago de Chile. The return - BA244 - follows the same routing in reverse: Santiago to Buenos Aires, then nonstop to Heathrow.
Flights will run daily once the summer 2027 schedule begins on 28 March. British Airways says this will make it the only nonstop flight between London and Buenos Aires, with all other UK-originating itineraries currently requiring at least one connection - typically in Madrid, São Paulo or Miami.
What It Means for Travellers
For UK-based travellers planning trips to Argentina, a nonstop London–Buenos Aires journey removes a significant friction point. Connecting itineraries via Madrid typically add four to six hours to total travel time and introduce an additional missed-connection risk; the BA route will offer a point-to-point option for the first time since 2023.
The route is also part of a broader Latin America expansion: British Airways is targeting a 25% increase in seat capacity across the region for Summer 2027, which should improve availability and provide more competitive pricing on transatlantic fares.
Travellers arriving at Ezeiza should note that ongoing runway maintenance works - scheduled through to November 2026 - have affected slot availability for some carriers this season, but operations are expected to be fully normalised well ahead of the March 2027 start.
